Title: Could it be?! A real fishing opportunity?!!!
Post by: Abking on April 06, 2011, 12:34:50 pm
This Saturday my son has his baseball jamboree - I'm looking forward to it, and it'll be over by early afternoon.  If the forecast holds for Cape Mendo to Pt. Arena (.SAT...NW WIND 10 TO 15 KT...BECOMING SW 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 2 TO 4 FT. NW SWELL 7 FT.), I plan to get down to the Cove by mid afternoon and troll for salmon until dark.  The fish being caught so far seem to be taking plastic (Apex), and that's a good early season option since chovies/herring will attract rockfish and lingcod which are off limits right now.  I think my regular partner is heading out of town, so if anyone's interested in sharing gas money and some time on the water speak up or be ready to potentially read and weep!   ;D

I will be driving like a bat out of hell on 36 to get back home Satuday just in case Sunday is nice!

I'm actually hoping Sunday's forecast shapes up nicer, so we can get on it that morning and have more time.  Drive safely and call me so I can help you get ready if we're going Sunday!

Here are some screenshots from StormSurf - Sunday morning looks good!

As for next week, it only shows through a week from yesterday, and it looks like it's getting good for later next week.  (fingers crossed...)

So much for the screenshots - the memory capabilities for attachments won't allow me to do it.

Right now it all hinges on me getting a sitter for Xandra. Heather has a lunch date with some gal pals at 2pm Sun. Unless I am home by then.

Well...  I stopped by your house when I checked the mail around 6:45 and told Heather that if we go Sunday it would be a dawn to mid morning fishing window because the conditions are supposed to degrade during the morning - picking up to 9' swell maybe by noon - so maybe finish fishing around 10:30...  Add to that:  Chris/MBYakker says he's 90% for going, and he would be leaving Sunday super early to get their for early launch - maybe a carpool opportunity.  So, I'll talk to you tomorrow once I see the latest forecast and guage the family obligations.  I may just leave at 4:30 Sunday AM to avoid the sleep-in-the-truck factor, but if tomorrow's conditions look do-able I'll jam after baseball jamboree and get down there to try to fish from 3:30 to dark.  OMG I need this!!

 :)
