I will probably be there!  My wife and I are going to come over to Eureka for that weekend.  She wants to relax, I want to fish!

I'll try to be there - salmon, halibut, ling trifecta potential!!!  That day's Dom's b-day and the following day's mine, so hopefully it'll be flat and we'll have passes from the wives.   :)
See you OTW!

Hey, RG - welcome!  We're having a big tournament down at Shelter Cove on the rockfish/lingcod opener, Sunday the 15th.  It's too late to register, but you're welcome to check it all out.  93 of us are signed up to compete for Angler of the Day honors and a nice list of prizes.

See ya around.   :)
See you OTW!

Welcome RG!

GMS is an awesome event put on by by Abking.  He really puts his heart and soul into it.  If you want a shot in the arm of pure kayak madness, it is the place to be, either in the tourney or just to fish and have a great time!

This is one of the most addicting sports I have come across.  If I don't see you at Shelter Cove, I hope to see you at Trinidad!

I am going to try and make it then, my youngest son has his first soccer game on his new team opening day !!! CRAP!!!!! Well there will be more opening days!! they are only young once. Maybe Ethen and I. Matt a gave Ethen the Prowler. I picked up a big game for me, it's a little older and he left it outside. Now the work begins it has only one rod holder and that is it. I have a FF, and need to order some rod holders for the back, but I am a nervous to drill holes. hope to see everyone then.

Codzilla, let me know if you need help pimping.  The pain goes away after the first few holes.  That big game is a nice kayak, very stable.

I think that I am ready for the Trinidad ride but my boat will look like a cyborg porcupine. When will the bulk of the crowd hit the water? I have to drop my wife in Arcata in the morning before I can go north. I am excited about this new sport. My only real fishing experience is a summer job on a swordfish long-liner when I was a kid. This will be more "in your face" when that big halibut lands in my lap.

Another newbie to the forums that'll try to make it on the 28th,,, especially since I have a new 4.7 and live in Eureka!!!  Just started checking forums recently, mostly NCKA, and just found this site today.  Obviously missed NCKA signup for GS5, but will be splashing the waters around Tdad for opener.  Cheers, Adrien.

Wind/Wind Waves still look good for tomorrow,,, but the swell is super fun right now,,, so if I don't surf, I'll be looking for y'all.  What time you meeting @ the launch?  With the late morning high tide, I might even fish and then surf later...

How did ya'll do saturday?  I caught a 27" ling and this big 38.5" hog which is my best ling on a kayak.  I caught it out in front of Trinidad head mooching a blue tray herring.   The swells were somewhat large and it was too rough to even get within a hundred yards of Flat Iron rock.  I had yakfishing fever because I had already left my house at 4:20am to go to the Cape, but I waited at the Cape til 9:00am without putting into the water because of the surf breaking so mI decided to haul it out to Trinidad instead.  I saw Hawk getting out of the water with a group he led on an excursion in Trinidad bay.  Someone in his group got a 28" ling off the boiler rocks.
